If you’re reading this, you’re probably someone who values travel, sustainability, freedom, good company, and any adventure you can bring your pup along for. That’s us, too! We’ve spent our entire marriage taking huge risks, growing and learning together, and chasing our dreams – from selling everything we own to building our first van, navigating life on the road, and learning how to make an income, on and offline. Now we’re here to share everything we’ve learned with YOU so you can chase your dreams too!
how we got started with vanlife
Keith and I both grew up exposed to travel to some degree and knew it was something we wanted to do together long term. It wasn’t until 2019 that our eyes were opened to the possibility of being able to travel indefinitely while working remotely. We envisioned traveling by plane, staying in incredible places, and having new experiences every day but had also recently discovered vanlife and KNEW we would have a van of our own someday. Enter March of 2020 – everything shut down due to the pandemic, I was just finishing my degree at IU, Keith continued working full time, and we ended up getting our dog, Chloe. With everything shut down, this ended up being the perfect excuse for us to save as much money as possible and downsize our life to start working toward our dream of full time travel. Throughout the pandemic, we had become so attached to Chloe and knew it would never be realistic to leave her behind but a van would be a perfect way to bring her along for every adventure! So after two years of saving every bit of money we made, in November of 2021 we found a van in Mississippi, flew to pick it up, drove it back to Indiana, and began building out our tiny home on wheels!
